SENIOR COACHES REQUIRED
Kapiti Coast Hockey Club is inviting expressions of interest for coaches in the following grades in the Wellington Senior competition.
Men’s Premier 2, Reserve 1, 3,and 4.
Women’s Premier 3 (two teams), Reserve 2 and possibly Reserve 3.
There is a possibility of playing Women’s P2 from the beginning of the season. (Note: Varsity P3’s may not want to be promoted, if not, we will try to take their place)
With the opening of the hockey turf in Paraparaumu last year, we have seen serious growth of player numbers and more new players are expected this year.
Our medium term goal is to make Prem 1 for both Men’s and Women’s competitions.
We are seeking experienced coaches with strong hockey skills, tactical appreciation and team building skills.
Coaches without formal coaching certificates will be considered for the lower grades and support will be given to attend appropriate courses if required.
In the Men’s competition we are looking to get our P2 Men’s team into P1. We are targeting winning the P2 competition, or get a high enough result to ensure we play the P1 promotion game at the end of the season. Promotion at the end of the Apr/May grading round is to be targeted for all teams, particularly Res1 aiming for Prem3
We are seeking a special promotion for one of the Women’s P3 teams to P2 from the start of the season. Regardless of the outcome of our request, we are targeting promotion for one of the Women’s P3 teams to P2 by the end of the Apr/May grading round.
We also have a Masters team in Women’s P2 however we are not seeking a coach for that team.
An early response would be appreciated, our next is early February.
We plan for a short appointments process so that some or all of the coaches can get involved in pre-season training and the trial process.
At this stage none of these coaching roles are paid positions but for the right person we could look at longer term options such as - seeking funding during 2010 for specific additional tasks
- grow one of the roles into Director of Coaching for 2011 or
- provide support for living arrangements.
