Up-Skill Hockey Easter Programme 2010 This is your invitation for the Upskill Hockey Easter Programme. What is Upskill Hockey? Upskill hockey coaching is a series of hockey clinics targeting school aged children aged from 7-17 years old throughout the Wellington Region, NZ. The first Upskill Hockey Programme held over summer 09’-10’ was extremely successful and involved 110 players. The vision of the initiative is to offer young Wellington Hockey players the chance to UPSKILL their hockey ability and knowledge by training in an intense and fun environment. Groups decided on age and ability, will be relatively small (8-10) so close attention will be given to every player. Coaches The idea has been produced by experienced head coaches Scott Falconer and Hayden Shaw, and also bring in other guest coaches using Blacksticks, and Wellington Snr players. Scott is an ex Blackstick men’s and NZ U21 player, and a current Wellington men’s player who is the also the player-coach of the premier men’s team at Harbour City Hockey Club. Hayden is an ex NZ and Canterbury age-group representative player who currently plays in the national hockey league for Southern, and plays his club hockey at Northern United in Wellington. Both coaches also have extensive coaching experience. Upskill Programme Structure The sooner that you register, the more chance you have of getting the day and location of your choice. Nominations close on 29th March There is only one trial for U15 boys see below for date. 1. 1st trial Monday 19th April NHS 7-9pm 2. 2nd trial Friday 23rd April NHS 7.00 - 9.00pm 3. From the trials a squad of 25-30 players will be selected to attend trainings to select the final U15A and Development teams. U18 Girls 2010: Nominations are now being called for the U18 Girls. Nominations close on 15th March 1. All nominations will be reviewed and a short list will be selected and posted on the WHA web site by 6th March 2. 2 trials will be held where further player assessment and fitness evaluations will be undertaken. 3. 1st trial Monday 22nd March NHS 7.00 - 9.00pm 4. 2nd trial Wednesday24th March NHS 6.00 - 8.00pm 5. From the trials a squad of 25-30 players will be selected to attend trainings to select the final U18A and Development teams. Trainings will commence on Friday 2nd May 8.00 - 9.30am at NHS U18A and U18 Development teams will be named by the end of April.
